Beginner's Guide to Using Our Gang Sheet Builder

Background Remover

Automatically removes the background from your image with a single click. Our gang sheet builder generates three different background removal options, allowing you to compare the results and choose the one that looks best. This is perfect for removing white, colored, or busy backgrounds from logos, photos, and artwork, giving you a clean, print-ready design without needing graphic design experience or photo editing software.

Upscale Image

Improve the quality of low-resolution images with AI before printing. Choose Default to sharpen and clean up most artwork while keeping it true to the original, or choose Creative for extremely blurry or low-quality images that need the AI to rebuild missing details. Then select the image type that best matches your artwork: General for most designs, Vector for logos and line art, Faces for portraits, or Landscape for scenery. Choosing the correct settings helps produce the sharpest, cleanest DTF transfer possible.

Remove / Replace Color

Quickly remove or replace a specific color in your artwork without affecting the rest of the design. Simply click the color you want to change, then choose a new color or remove it completely to make it transparent. This is useful for removing unwanted backgrounds, changing shirt colors in mockups, fixing artwork, or matching your customer's requested colors. If your design contains multiple shades of the same color, you can adjust the tolerance setting to include more or fewer similar colors for a cleaner result.

Halftone Image

Convert your artwork into a halftone pattern made up of small dots, creating a classic screen-print look or helping produce smoother gradients on certain designs. This tool is great for basic halftone effects, but if you need advanced control over dot size, shape, angle, frequency, or color separations, dedicated software will produce better results. Professional options include ActionSeps DTX Live and Photoshop plugins like RezFixer and DTF Prep, which offer much greater precision for high-end DTF production. For most beginners, the built-in halftone tool is a quick and easy way to create an attractive halftone effect without learning advanced software.

Transparent Pixel Tool

The Transparent Pixel Tool is one of the most important features in Kixxl, second only to the Background Remover. When you upload artwork, Kixxl automatically checks for transparent pixel issues and will notify you if your image needs to be fixed—always use this tool when prompted. It detects and removes unwanted transparent pixels that can be introduced by low-resolution artwork, resizing, background removal, or other image edits, helping produce cleaner, sharper DTF prints. If you make any changes to your artwork after uploading, always run the Transparent Pixel Tool as your final step to ensure your design is fully optimized before printing.

DPI & Lock Aspect Ratio

DPI (Dots Per Inch) measures the resolution of your image and is one of the most important factors in achieving a high-quality DTF print. For the best results, your artwork should be 300 DPI at the size you plan to print—any artwork below 300 DPI is likely to print blurry, pixelated, or lack fine detail. Always monitor the DPI indicator as you resize your design, since enlarging an image lowers its DPI. Keep Lock Aspect Ratio enabled to resize your artwork proportionally and prevent stretching, but if you need to adjust both the width and height independently, simply uncheck the box andmake your changes. If the AI Upscaler cannot improve your artwork to 300 DPI, the only solution is to go back to the original image and obtain or recreate a higher-quality version before printing.
